The movement against the CAA, NRP, has been going on for two months in Shahinbagh, the capital city of Delhi. The Supreme Court has appointed an intermediary to move the protesters.
In a hearing issued on Monday, two senior Supreme Court lawyers Sanjay Hegde and Sadhana Ramchandran were given the responsibility. In combination with the two lawyers, the protesters and the police will provide an alternative place for the movement. Former Central Information Commissioner Wajahat Habibullah will assist the two lawyers in the process.
Muslim women have been practicing for more than two months against the Revised Citizenship Act (CAA), National Citizenship Registry (NRC) and National Population Registration (NPR). People from different parts of the society have stood by the movement. But in the long run, there was a public interest lawsuit against the Supreme Court for traffic problems during the protest. The next hearing on that issue will be held next Monday.
Today, the apex court has said that Shahinbagh had told the protesters, “You have the right to protest. But, don't close the road. This creates chaos. Others learn from you too. You are protesting today, so will others in the future. ”
The court said, "We have no objection to the five thousand protests. We just want the road not to be closed. The road closure is only raising our concerns. However, everyone has the right to protest. '
Earlier, the central government and the police administration had tried to lift the movement in Shaheenbagh. Various BJP leaders have criticized and criticized the movement. Yet the crackdown on the protestors could not be cracked. Moreover, many places have become practically Shaheenbagh due to the protests in various states of the country in the favor of Shaheenbagh. This time the Supreme Court did not agree to pull the rush of the movement. Instead, the Supreme Court started the process of shifting the movement by appointing mediators. Analysts say the movement does not stop immediately.
