UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has proposed mediation on India-controlled Jammu and Kashmir issue. The Indian government, however, rejected his proposal. India's English daily The Hindu reported.
India's Foreign Ministry statement on Sunday said, "The conflict that exists with Kashmir will be discussed bilaterally; There is no opportunity for third party mediation. ”
India's foreign ministry spokesman, avoiding the Kashmir issue, claimed that what is needed now is to remove them from the areas occupied by Pakistan. Within a few hours, India refused to comment on whether the UN agency could mediate on the Kashmir issue by the UN Secretary General to reduce tensions between India and Pakistan.
Such a situation has become a routine matter in the Indian-controlled Kashmir
At a news conference with Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, the UN Secretary-General said that protecting human rights in India-controlled Jammu and Kashmir has become an urgent matter.
The Secretary-General of the United Nations visited the Foreign Ministry of Pakistan and held representative meetings with the Foreign Minister. Earlier in the day, Antonio Guterres arrived in Pakistan on a four-day visit. He will attend a conference on Afghan peace.
