Saudi Arabian government is pushing Bangladesh to withdraw 42,000 Rohingya holders with Bangladeshi passports. Already multiple letters have been asked to resolve the issue. The matter was also discussed in the presence of the Prime Minister at a meeting of Bangladeshi Ambassadors held in Doha last January.
Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia will raise the issue again at a joint commission meeting in Dhaka on Wednesday (February 12th), according to diplomatic sources.
Bangladesh's relations with Saudi Arabia are very close. Despite the agreement with Saudi Arabia on the international counter-terrorism alliance and taking the stand for Saudi campaign in Yemen, Bangladesh could not accept such behavior in the Rohingya issue.
In this regard, former state minister of Bangladesh, Dr Ehsanul Haque Milon, told Radio Tehran that all the countries involved in Muslim Ummah should take responsibility for the Rohingya Muslims. The wealthy country and the holy Mecca Sharif's holder Saudi Arabia must play a greater role in that regard.
Earlier, Islamic Information.com reported that Saudi Arabia is going to grant Rohingya Muslims citizenship. King Salman orders Rohingya Muslims living in Saudi Arabia for free citizenship! It was reported in the headline that King Salman bin Abdul Aziz of Saudi Arabia ordered Rohingya Muslims to give free citizenship.
The Saudi Arabian government will provide Rohingya immigrants with free Iqamas under free government sponsorship. King Salman also announced that he would pay an Iqama to 4 million people in Myanmar. It is also known that the United Nations expresses its sincere gratitude to King Salman's cooperation and sympathy for the Rohingya Muslims.
All immigrants, including citizens of that country, are required to live in Saudi Arabia. No one can live there except Iqama. They were told by the Rohingya Muslims that they would receive treatment and housing facilities just like the citizens of Saudi Arabia.
In this regard, Professor Imtiaz Ahmed, director of the Center for Genocide Studies of Dhaka University, said that Rohingya Muslims should be allowed to stay there for humanitarian reasons without being the victim of torture. Moreover, as Muslims they should accept this fair claim
