Various human rights organizations and members of the US Congress and the European Union have been widely criticized by the Modi government for eroding civilian blocked after the army lifted a flawed over Jammu and Kashmir. In this context, the European Union's twenty-seven MPs will visit Kashmir to monitor the situation in feild, where the Indian government has given its clearance. Meanwhile, the group has reportedly arrived in Srinagar.
India has said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and National Security Adviser Ajit Doval met with the European delegation and sought their assurance in counter-terrorism.
The European Union, meanwhile, said that their MPs visit Kashmir at a very personal level. The Indian government has chosen who will be on the tour. The Government of India has also decided that they will conduct their observations in some places in Kashmir.
But Indian opposition parties have simultaneously demanded that Modi's government arrange the visit to hide the real situation in Kashmir. Because the government did not allow the opposition representatives to visit Kashmir. In addition, foreign observers visiting Kashmir will talk only with elected representatives. And they will conduct surveillance at the government-designated places. Opponents have expressed skepticism about how realistic the picture will be in that case.
