Middle East:
Turkey's President Rajab Tayyab Erdogan has said that if the army is not withdrawn from the Turkish military position in Idlib province, Syria will launch an operation against the Syrian army at any moment.
Erdogan said, "As always, we can launch a raid any night." Earlier, Turkey had crossed the Syrian border three times. He pointed to those army operations.
Erdogan said at a meeting of Turkey's ruling party Justice and Development Party's parliamentary party on Wednesday that the security zone must be established in Idlib, Syria. He said that Turkey has made all preparations for the military operation, the operation is only a matter of time.
Meanwhile, Russian President's spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in response to Erdogan's threat, "If we talk about a military operation against a legitimate Syrian government, that would be a very bad scenario." Peskov said Moscow would have no objection if Turkey launched an operation against terrorists. Moscow talks with Turkey on these issues are continuing.
For the past several weeks, Syrian government forces and allied fighters have been conducting military operations against terrorist groups in parts of the country's northwestern Idlib and Aleppo provinces. Syrian troops have already achieved great success and liberated many areas in the Turkish border areas.
