Iran may go to international court in J. Solaimani murder case
The Deputy Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mohsen Baharvand, has said that the trial of the IRGC's Quds Force chief, Shaheed Qasim Sulaimani, will be tried by the International Court of Justice. He made the remarks while talking to Iran's national broadcaster IRAB today (Thursday).
The deputy foreign minister added that the matter would be taken to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) once the domestic investigation into the assassination of General Qasim Sulaimani was completed.
He said the murder would be tried from two sides. There will be trials within the country and legal action will be taken through international organizations. He said the matter would be taken to the international arena in coordination with all relevant departments of Iran.
The bomber struck shortly after noon in front of a U.S. military base in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad. General Qasim Solaimani was martyred. U.S. President Donald Trump has said the killings were carried out under his direct direction.
Solaimani, considered the world's number one general, was at the top of the hit list of the US intelligence agency CIA and the Israeli spy agency Mossad.
