Unity of Muslim countries to counter enemy: Iran's army chief
Major General Hossein Salami, head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Force (IRGC) of Iran, says that unity among Muslim countries is essential to counter the enemy's conspiracy. General Salami made the remarks at a meeting with Pakistan Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Wednesday.
At the meeting, he called on the Pak army chief to establish strong unity among Muslim countries. He said that Zionist Israel and America are common enemies of Muslim countries. He praised Pakistan's efforts in reducing regional tensions. The IRGC chief said, "To say the Muslim Ummah, we understand the entire Muslim world and there is no difference between the Shia and Sunni."
At the meeting, General Bajwa said that Pakistan and Iran have many religious, cultural and historical similarities and that the common border between the two countries has provided the opportunity to establish cooperation between Pakistan and Iran. The Pak army chief praised Iran for its important role in the war against Iraq and Syria.
General Bajwa traveled to Tehran with a high-ranking military and security delegation. On this visit, he was the president of Iran. Hasan Rouhani and Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif held talks with top level officials.
