Bangladesh is worried about sending female workers to Saudi
Some MPs of the Jatiya Party and the People's Forum have demanded that they stop sending female manpower to Saudi Arabia for domestic work after being subjected to physical abuse and harassment. In response, Minister of Expatriates' Welfare and Foreign Employment Imran Ahmed said the government was very worried about the issue.
During the Q&A session of the Parliament of Bangladesh, Jatiya Party MPs Kazi Feroz Rashid and Mujibul Haque Chunnu and Ganaforam MP Sultan Mansur Ahmed raised the issue separately. Regarding sending women workers abroad, especially in Saudi Arabia, Jatiya Party Presidium Member and Member of Parliament Kazi Firoz Rashid said, "We cannot do business with our mothers and sisters. The country is not a bottomless basket, why send women workers abroad? Turn it off immediately. '
Kazi Firoz Rashid added, "There is no need to sell the country by sending mothers and sisters. We do not need money to protect the honor of mother and sisters. We cannot sell our dignity. '
Imran Ahmed said the matter was discussed in a meeting with the Saudi Arabian Embassy in charge of the Affairs in Dhaka. He noted that Bangladesh's ambassador to Saudi Arabia has been instructed to raise the matter in the country's foreign ministry. A meeting of the Joint Technical Group will be held in Saudi Arabia from November 25-27 next. These questions will be raised there too. '
Responding to a question from Panier Uddin Ahmed, the Minister of Expatriates' Welfare and Foreign Employment said, "During the period of 3-5 years, female workers have been sent to the countries of the Middle East. Necessary steps are taken to prevent the fraud, harassment and harassment of these women workers by contacting the appropriate authorities, including the foreign ministries of the respective countries, from the labor wing of Bangladesh missions.
