Lieutenant Governor assures assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir
Lieutenant Governor Girish Chandra Murmu has announced that elections will be held in Jammu and Kashmir soon. He said, "Besides the central rule in Jammu and Kashmir, it will also have its own assembly and the process of electing a public representative will begin soon."
He was addressing policemen at a police training center today. Appreciating the functioning of the police in Jammu and Kashmir, the Lieutenant Governor said that the police were doing very well to eradicate terrorism in the state. Jawans are ensuring the safety of the people regardless of their lives. They never backed away from the duties assigned to police jawans. An important responsibility will be placed on the shoulders of the Jammu and Kashmir Police soon and that will be conducted peacefully in the state.
"Since the abolition of Article 370, the entire valley has been imprisoned in the encirclement of the army. Elections before normalization or release of political prisoners are nothing but self-contradiction."
The Lieutenant Governor told the police personnel that they would play an important role in that election, so they should start preparing for it now. He indicated that the process of the election program had begun. The public will be notified about this soon.
From the Jammu and Kashmir on August 8, the central government of India withdrew a clause that contained special privileges for the residents of that state, after the head of the National Conference and former chief minister Dr. Farooq Abdullah, former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and PDP leader and former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti are in house arrest. In addition, many leaders and activists of different political parties have been arrested or arrested. Recently, the National Conference demanded immediate release of these political leaders.
