Rohingya massacre sued Myanmar in The International court
★ Massacre, rape and extermination of innocent Muslims in Arakan province in the country is a rare occurrence in history.
★ As many as six million Rohingya have taken shelter in Bangladesh to save their lives following the eviction of the Myanmar government, that is, to turn the area into a 'Muslim Land'.
★ The Gambia is the one of the international courts against this heinous humanity violation in the State Department.
Gambia, the West African country, has filed a lawsuit in the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in Myanmar on charges of genocide against Rohingya Muslims in Rakhine. The case also called for an urgent order of the International Court of Justice to immediately stop the genocide in Myanmar.
At a press conference in The Hague on Monday, Gambia Justice Minister Abubakar Tamabodo said, "We have just submitted our application to the ICJ under the Genocide Convention. The Gambia is taking steps to seek justice and accountability for Myanmar-run genocide against the Rohingya, and to support and strengthen global behavior against genocide, which is mandatory for all states. Massacre will happen before our eyes, and if we do not see it, it will be a shame for our generation. "
According to the British Daily Guardian, the Gambia has accused them of indirectly killing, raping and destroying their settlements in the Rakhine state in Myanmar over a five-page indictment. If the ICJ accepts the case for trial, this will be ICJ's first initiative in its own investigation into genocide. Earlier, they relied on other agencies in the investigation.
The ICJ is the United Nations' main judicial body; This Court has been in force since the year after its formation in the 5th. The court settles legal disputes between independent states. According to ICJ rules, a UN member state may sue another country for violating international law.
Human Rights Watch (HRW) is one of five organizations assisting the Gambia in bringing Rohingya to justice for Myanmar's genocide. Director of the organization Param-Prat Singh said in a statement, "This legal action of the Gambia has triggered the judicial process of Rohingya persecution in Myanmar in the world's highest court." Now the court can take interim measures to prevent the Rohingya from being persecuted. ”
The lawsuit, filed in the International Court of Justice, alleges that Myanmar's operations against the Rohingya included killing, causing serious physical and psychological harm, creating situations like physical destruction, imposing a birth control system and forcible transfer. These are the characteristics of genocide. This was because the intention was to completely or partially destroy the Rohingya group.
