Afghan President Hamid Karzai blamed the United States for the ongoing crisis in Afghanistan. He said the United States was following a disgraceful and divisive policy for the Afghan people and this is why the ongoing crisis has been created.
On Monday, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani and CEO Abdullah Abdullah were sworn in as the country's presidents through an unprecedented program. This means that both are claiming that they are the president of Afghanistan. Hamid Karzai then said this in a statement.
In the statement, Hamid Karzai said that in recent meetings with US officials, especially US Ambassador to Afghanistan, Zalmai Khalilzad, in recent months, I have expressed deep concern about American policy on Afghanistan's election process and US peace deal with the Taliban.
Hamid Karzai also said that if the United States were sincere about ending Afghanistan's crisis, they would have prevented division and political instability within the country. They could play a constructive role in this regard and take appropriate steps before the swearing-in of the Afghan president. Stressing the importance of national unity in Afghanistan's ongoing crisis, Karzai said that unity can only be foiled by all kinds of conspiracies.
Meanwhile, the United Nations Security Council has unanimously approved the US peace deal with the Afghan Taliban.
