RSS clarified their position on the NRC but arise a question
Mohammad Ghori Shah
★ NRC is a statutory national process in India. There is a system for identifying illegal residents in the country.
★ Recently this process has been completed in Assam. It shows that there are nineteen million people who do not have proper citizenship documents. Twelve millions of them are Hindus.
★ The Modi government's goal was to strengthen the hands of its associates by the NRC to expel Bengali-speaking Muslims from Assam or take away citizenship.
The NRC in India has now created panic in the border states. In the meantime, six people have died in NRC panic in West Bengal. If they cannot provide proof of citizenship, they will have to stay in a horrible detention camp. Besides, the rhetoric of various BJP leaders, such as Amit Shah, Dilip Ghosh, is making people more afraid.
It was at this point that the main Hindu fundamentalist organization of India, RSS, made a hostile comment on the NRC. Mohan Bhagwat, the head of the organization, said there was no question of expulsion of the NRC, not for Hindus.
The NRC applies to everyone living in India. It is a law-based constitutional process. But Mohan Bhagwat denied it. The main point of his statement is that if an illegal intruder, Hindus can live in India freely.
Analysts believe that Mohan Bhagwat's statement is the equivalent of treason. This statement could adversely affect India's national solidarity.
Mohan Bhagwat added another chapter to the anti-Muslim fundamentalist politics of the BJP.
In the meantime, the rise of Narendra Modi in Indian politics is not a dry matter for Muslims. During his time Muslims in India were acknowledging discrimination and terrorism in a social and political way. They are being killed. This would further complicate the situation in law enforcement. Above all, this remark by Mohan Bhagwat should be considered by constitutional institutions.
