This time Hajj is limited, foreigners will not be allowed
Due to the global epidemic of coronavirus, the Saudi government has decided to hold a limited Hajj this year. Due to this decision, no foreigner can go for Hajj this time. Only those living in Saudi Arabia will be able to take part in this year's Hajj, the government said yesterday.
A statement from the Saudi Press Agency quoted the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah as saying, "Coronavirus infections are on the rise around the world. No vaccines or antidotes have been released so far. It is difficult to maintain social distance between millions of pilgrims from around the world." That is why this Hajj will be held with a limited number of Saudi nationals and Muslims from different countries who are currently living in Saudi Arabia. " Due to the decision of the Saudi government, no foreigner is able to go for Hajj this time.
Last year, about 2.5 million people around the world performed the Hajj. But this time around, due to the global spread of the coronavirus Covid-19, several Muslim and non-Muslim countries have said they will not send pilgrims. Singapore was the first to announce the cancellation of the Hajj, followed by Indonesia, Thailand, India, Malaysia, Brunei and South Africa. Of these seven countries, Indonesia has the highest Muslim population. The total quota of these seven countries for performing Hajj is 420,000, which is 20 percent of the total number of Muslim citizens performing Hajj.
Riyadh stopped performing Umrah last March after a corona patient was identified in Saudi Arabia. At the same time, the pilgrimage to Kabash Sharif was stopped; However, later on, keeping a social distance, visiting the house of God in a short council was allowed.
